Organized Crime & Public Security: Identify emerging trends in firearms, narcotics, and organized crime; develop and implement cross-sector strategies to enhance public safety.Policy & Program Development: Collaborate with government, industry, and law enforcement partners to design policies and programs that reduce gang, gun, and organized crime activity.Federal-Provincial Partnerships: Alberta lead for the Gun and Gang Violence Action Fund, overseeing the province’s strategy to maximize Alberta’s share of a $390M federal investment to combat guns and gangs nationwide. Distributed funding to 37 projects across the province - partnering with police services, non-profits, the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service and ALERT. Lead for all federal -provincial reporting and development of GGVAF Evaluation Framework.Legislative Leadership: Directed development and amendments to the Scrap Metal Dealers and Recyclers Identification Act, including cabinet reporting, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory enhancements—strengthening Alberta’s response to scrap metal trafficking in partnership with police, municipalities, Crown, and industry.Technology & Modernization (BWC Mandate): Led province-wide procurement and implementation of Body-Worn Cameras (BWCs), Digital Evidence Management Systems, and In-Car Video. Oversaw vendor negotiations, funding model design, and grant program administration to support police services, municipalities, and First Nation/MPSA communities.National Collaboration: Active participant at Federal/Provincial/Territorial (FPT) tables on public security, organized crime, and crime prevention.
