About Tyra Johnson
Organizational development professional with a passion for research, community development, and DJEBAreas of Interest: Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Training & Development, and Workforce PlanningTyra Johnson joins Illinois College (IC) as the Associate Director of Residential Life. She earned her undergraduate degree in Human Resource Management & Communication Rhetorical Studies at Illinois College in 2023. During college, she served as Speech Captain, a Speech Center worker, Student Senate member, and Residential Life Hall Director. Tyra also explored the impacts of social media usage on various identities and presented her findings while at IC. Her passion for leadership, research, and HR led her to pursue a Master\'s degree in Human Resource Development, with a certificate in Diversity & Inclusion Strategy at Villanova University. There, she founded Villanova’s first Black Graduate Student Association and worked as a Graduate Assistant developing career advancement workshops, HR conferences, and research. She also completed the department\'s first thesis project in a decade, examining how DEI professionals adapt to a changing climate.
