ABOUT TYLER SENECAL

I launched my first company out of undergrad with zero dollars and zero customers. Within a month it was profitable.Within 6 months I landed a Fortune 500 client. Then I spent the better part of a decade building the entrepreneurship center at one of the top colleges in the US. I left and took a sabbatical — I wrote a book to help first time founders go from zero to fundable startup.I never published it.I wanted to learn more about building software, raising capital and the Venture Capital industry.In 2022 I started Sagacity, a SaaS company that used AI to help Venture Capitalists turn all their scattered portco data into elegant dashboards — unlocking previously inaccessible insights into portfolio performance.That was one of the best and most painful/expensive learning experiences of my life. I was lucky to bring together an incredible team. We built a product that was ahead of it’s time, raised some capital and had a handful of stellar customers. But ultimately, we were not successful. During that time, I had 100’s of closed door conversations with VCs from around the world. A lot of what we discussed was their investment choices; how they operated their firms; what their relationships were like with their portfolio companies. I learned interesting things about how the best founders operate and manage relationships with their investors, and how that often plays an important role in how easily & quickly those founders are able to raise capital. At the same time I saw great founders who were building compelling companies with strong metrics… that struggled to raise capital — not because of their company, but because of their lack of an engaged investor network.To help with that, I started two new things:1 - Built a directory of 4500+ VC firms at thestartupverse.com/investor-directory (FREE access for startup founders!) so founders can more easily identify potential investors without paying $4K for pitchbook. 2- I also started an unnamed company that provides Investor Relations as a Service (IRaaS) to a small number of Seed - Series A founders — We do the heavy lifting to help VC-backed startups establish and build investor relationships with the right investors, maintain engagement, and raise their next round efficiently. When I’m not helping founders you can find me hanging off rock walls, hiking in the mountains, traveling with my wife or wrestling with our two dogs.
