About Tyler Melchior
I am an arts and culture leader with more than 20 years of experience advancing organizational strategy, audience engagement, and accessibility across the Philadelphia region. A graduate of Temple University, my career has centered on supporting sustainable, mission-driven arts institutions through thoughtful leadership, collaborative problem-solving, and a deep commitment to equity and access.I currently serve as General Manager at Theatre Exile, where I oversee operations and support the long-term health of the organization. Previously, I led marketing and communications departments at 1812 Productions and the Rosenbach Museum & Library, guiding brand strategy, audience development, and cross-departmental initiatives. In addition to my in-house leadership roles, I have provided consulting, promotional, and graphic design services for a range of cultural organizations, including Hedgerow Theatre, The Soundtrack Series, Madhouse Theater Company, Partners for Sacred Places, Montgomery Theater, and others.A central focus of my leadership is advancing accessibility as a core value of arts practice. I am a member of The Accessibility Cohort, a regional network of arts professionals working to strengthen access services across New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. I co-created and co-facilitated Crowdsourcing Strategies for Increased Accessibility (CSIA), a professional workshop that supported shared learning and collective leadership in accessibility planning. I am also a co-creator and co-facilitator of the Audio Description Learning Network (ADLN), a Pennsylvania Council on the Arts–funded initiative with a mission to expand training opportunities for audio describers from underrepresented communities. ADLN received a 2024 Audio Description Project Award from the American Council of the Blind.I live in Philadelphia with my husband and remain deeply invested in cultivating a more inclusive, resilient, and collaborative arts ecosystem.
