About Tyler Block
As an acrobat in Cirque du Soleil, I crafted numerous solo acts for three distinct shows, performing in over 40 countries. This journey allowed me to immerse myself in a wide range of cultures and ethnicities, teaching me not only the artistry of captivating an audience but also how to adapt seamlessly to different ideas, norms, and practices both onstage and off.My experience as a Registered Nurse sharpened my ability to connect with people during their most vulnerable moments. In fast-paced, high-stakes environments, I learned how to listen deeply, assess unspoken needs, and respond with thoughtful, compassionate solutions. It gave me a strong foundation in problem-solving, emotional intelligence, and holistic thinking—skills that have been invaluable beyond healthcare. When I transitioned into product design, I carried this mindset with me. Nursing taught me to see the whole person behind every interaction, which now translates into designing with a truly user-centered approach. I focus on understanding emotional journeys, anticipating needs, and crafting intuitive, accessible experiences that feel as supportive and empowering as possible. My background allows me to design not just functional products, but ones that genuinely improve users’ lives in meaningful ways.I am excited about the prospect of consistently pushing boundaries and creating products that are not only useful but also highly desirable for their users.
Experience
Product Designer
Dec 2024 — Present
Product Designer | BalmAs a Product Designer for Balm, I led the end-to-end design of a new app focused on creating community and providing resources for women suffering from often-overlooked metabolic disorders. I collaborated closely with the founding team to define user needs, map out product flows, and build a compassionate, empowering experience from the ground up. My work included user research, UX strategy, wireframing, prototyping, and UI design, with a focus on accessibility and emotional resonance. The platform connects women to expert guidance, peer support, and actionable health tools—filling a critical gap left by the traditional healthcare system.
