As a Summer Research Intern at Divers Alert Network (DAN), I am working alongside experienced researchers on projects focused on diving physiology and safety. My primary research has centered on the Physiological Impacts of the Avelo System, a study examining how this innovative equipment affects divers’ physiological responses.Throughout the summer, I have participated in a variety of trainings and certifications designed for early-stage researchers in diving science. I received hands-on instruction and experience in:• Research planning, data collection, and analysis• Human specimen collection• Physiological monitoring techniques (blood pressure, EKG, hydration assessment, body composition)• Echocardiography and bubble counting• First aid and oxygen administration• Field experiment planningIn addition to scientific training, I completed industry-specific certifications such as Professional Cylinder Inspection and Valve Repair Technician training, expanding my technical knowledge of diving equipment and safety protocols.This internship has strengthened my research skills, expanded my technical training, and deepened my commitment to advancing safety and scientific understanding in the diving community.Learn more about the internship program here: https://dan.org/research-reports/get-involved/internships/
