Youth in Government (YIG) is an immersive civic engagement program that empowers students to take on roles as legislators, attorneys, and government officials. By drafting legislation, debating policy, and participating in mock trials, members gain firsthand experience in the democratic process. YIG fosters public speaking, critical thinking, and leadership skills while encouraging students to engage with real-world issues. It has strengthened my ability to advocate effectively, think strategically, and understand the complexities of governance.
