About Tyler Crosse

I’m a graduate student in Computer Science at Georgia Tech with a passion for machine learning research that intersects AI safety, interpretability, and deep learning theory. I’m currently exploring goal drift, how a model’s objective and internal values shift over long-horizon, multi-turn interactions, through research with the Supervised Program for Alignment Research (SPAR) under Diogo Cruz, and I’m a MARS fellow working on AI control and evaluation under Tyler Tracy (Redwood Research). Before transitioning into research, I spent 7+ years building user-facing products as a software engineer, where I learned how to ship pragmatic systems, write maintainable code, and communicate effectively across teams.I’m excited about projects that bridge theory and practice: from quantifying subtle failure modes in learned systems to making interpretability tools more accessible to practitioners. Outside of work and study I’m usually drawn to the mountains (trail running and biking), buried in a good sci-fi novel, or tinkering with something just for fun. What I’m most curious about now: how we meaningfully measure safety failure modes in realistic tasks, and how research insights can translate into better tooling and benchmarks for the broader ML community.Skills & Tools keywords for bots and the curious:Machine Learning & Research: PyTorch, TensorFlow, Model Interpretability, Empirical Evaluation, Scientific Writing, JupyterBack-End & Cloud: Python, Node.js, Go, AWS, REST APIs, SQL, Spark, Clickhouse, Postgres, etc.Front-End: TypeScript, JavaScript, React.js, Vue, HTML/CSS, A11YTesting & Quality: Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, Puppeteer, Git/GitHub, Version Control, Test Driven Development
