ABOUT TYLER ORTON

I’m an award-winning business journalist who’s constantly seeking new ways to break down complex stories that shape public understanding and decision-making. For more than a decade, I’ve worked across print, digital and broadcast to deliver insights about B.C.’s economy. I oversee the editorial direction and execution of BIV’s weekly print newspaper and its magazine portfolio, ensuring each publication delivers real impact and informs readers. Day to day, I assign and edit news stories and op-eds, curate content from editorial partners, refine SEO strategy and manage BIV.com. In 2022, I developed and launched the Lodestar Media Business Wire, now Western Canada’s premier hub for business news, which I continue to manage and grow. Since 2014, I’ve been hitting the airwaves on B.C.’s Global News Morning Show to provide insights on the economy. I co-hosted/co-produced Vancouver’s only daily business news radio show, BIV on Roundhouse 98.3 FM. Prior to becoming editor, I spent nine years as BIV’s beat reporter for the B.C. tech sector as it made its ascent in the 2010s through to the unicorn era of the 2020s.
