I represent technology clients and individuals in complex civil litigation and regulatory investigations, with an emphasis on privacy class action defense, data breach response, and Internet litigation. I am CIPP certified and routinely counsel high tech companies on privacy and data security law and on responding to data breaches. I co-developed Fenwick\'s 24/7 cybersecurity incident response hotline.I am also member of Fenwick\'s White Collar & Regulatory group where my practice focuses on internal investigations and individual representations. As a former prosecutor in the U.S. Department of Justice\'s Computer Crime and Intellectual Property Section and the Cyber and Fraud Unit of the U.S. Attorney\'s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia, I developed the skills that help me best represent companies and individuals in- Privacy, data security and advertising investigations by the Federal Trade Commission- Investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice concerning potential violations of the FCPA, money laundering laws, export control laws, the Wiretap Act, and securities laws; and- State Attorney General privacy investigations.As a frequent speaker and writer on new developments in privacy and data security law, I am committed to staying ahead of emerging trendsso that I can help clients navigate the changing risk landscape. Areas of focus include- ECPA and the Stored Communications Act- FCRA- Children\'s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)- California Consumer Privacy Act- Federal Trade Commission Act- CAN-SPAM and the TCPA- Data breach notice laws.The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has changed the global landscape in privacy law, and I frequently counsel companies on GDPR compliance. I co-lead Fenwick\'s team that counsels clients on developing and implementing best practices for responding to Data Subject Requests.I co-chaired the ABA Litigation Section\'s Privacy and Data Security Committee, in which I am still involved.
