Navigating the intersection of AI, robotics, and medical technology innovation at a global leader in musculoskeletal healthcare. As a key legal resource for the company\'s IP Group, I manage complex IP portfolios while addressing emerging technology challenges across the organization.Recently completed IP and technology due diligence for the $177M Monogram acquisition, evaluating AI and robotics assets for semi-autonomous and fully autonomous surgical systems—a strategic move that strengthens Zimmer Biomet\'s position in next-generation surgical technology.Currently drafting and developing the company\'s AI governance framework as part of the AI Working Group, establishing governance structures that balance innovation with regulatory compliance. This includes conducting advanced red teaming and security assessments for AI-powered products, leveraging expertise in LLM vulnerabilities to identify and mitigate risks pre-launch.Working closely with R&D and regulatory teams on EU AI Act compliance, I\'ve implemented legal strategies that reduce risk classifications, ensure human oversight requirements, and strengthen patent positions while maintaining product functionality. This work directly supports platforms like our ROSA surgical robots, MyMobility app, and ZBEdge through ongoing IP management and regulatory guidance.Beyond traditional IP counsel, I draft both internal AI governance policies and customer-facing agreements, manage open-source license compliance initiatives, and collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Regulatory Affairs, and QMS teams. By integrating legal considerations early in product development cycles, we\'re able to accelerate time-to-market while effectively managing risk in this rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.
