About Tyler Frantz
I am mechanical engineer with 12 years experience with a background in commercial aviation mechanical design/production support and defense contracting program management/engineering leadership. From an engineering standpoint, I have a specialty leading engineering teams to strategically solve product durability problems and evaluating the lifecycle/sustainment of aircraft/DoD radar production components, specifically for ground-based radar RF-related electronic line replaceable units (LRU\'s), aircraft engine combustors, and aircraft ducting joints/couplings. In addition to OEM (new-make production) part design, I have experience with repair engineering and reverse engineering for aircraft and engine hoses, tubes, and ducting. I spent 2 years as an Aerospace Program Manager for Jacobs Technology Inc’s Innovative Aerospace Division for the AgilePod26/36 aerospace program. The objective of this customer-facing role was to manage program cost ($12M+), schedule, and performance for an Air Force DoD contract intended to field an aircraft store (pod) capable of interfacing with multiple Air Force aircrafts and integrate numerous payloads. This program featured a novel design approach intended to disrupt the traditional airworthiness process that takes 5-7 years to first flight by designing to a class of aircraft using industry standards, resulting in ~2 years from initial concept to first flight (Q1 2023). I received a Masters Degree (Ohio State) and Bachelors Degree (Virginia Tech) both in Mechanical Engineering. My previous employers include Jacobs, Eaton Aerospace, and GE Aviation.

Engineering team leader for G/ATOR program radio frequency (RF) line replaceable units (LRU’s) responsible for coordinating engineering test to support full rate production of the LRU\'s that make up the G/ATOR system and addressing technical issues for production/fielded hardware-Cost account manager (CAM) for ~$8M budget for engineering support to deliver RF LRUs, tracked via Earned Value Management System (EVMS)-Led effort to incorporate engineering test process improvements including removal of redundant test operations due to historically-high test yields ($60k cost savings) and test/troubleshoot documentation improvements intended to reduce test lead-times -Implemented multiple design changes into the production cycle to address component-level obsolescence in time to required support production break-in of new designs as well as to address performance shortfalls in field -Led engineering proposals for follow on work including production support, redesign to address component-level obsolescence, and product improvement initiatives.
