ABOUT TYLER BELANGA
Driven by the belief that schools and educators play a crucial role in igniting students\' passions and fostering curiosity, I spent over a decade teaching and leading in urban middle schools. Today, as a state-level leader, I remain committed to driving systemic change by collaborating with educators to develop the tools, knowledge, and practices they need to help students thrive. I model the leadership I hope to inspire by centering compassion and empowering others, and I am guided always by a commitment to humanity and understanding. My work focuses on elevating learners and advancing inclusive, transformative educational practices and technology. I am extremely optimistic about the potential of AI to revolutionize education by enhancing instructional planning, streamlining data analysis, and enabling better-informed decisions that improve teaching and learning outcomes. Currently, I lead Hawai‘i’s balanced assessment initiative and oversee a federally funded, culturally responsive performance assessment development program. At the heart of everything I do is the desire to shape and contribute to an education system that supports human growth and fulfillment in a rapidly evolving world.
