ABOUT TYLER BARKER

From journalism to sales, my drive has always been rooted in one thing, a genuine love for human connection. When I began my Sports Journalism degree at Leeds Beckett, I thought I wanted to spend my life telling other people’s stories connecting with them on emotional and personal levels and sharing their journeys with the world. But when I stepped into a door to door sales job selling charity subscriptions, I realised what truly inspired me wasn’t just storytelling. It was the connection itself. That curiosity naturally led me deeper into the world of sales.Since then, I’ve continued expanding my sales experience while completing my degree from selling events to internationals in Bulgaria, to excelling in luxury retail at Fraser Hart. No matter the setting, I’ve learned that authenticity and genuine understanding are what consistently help me exceed my targets and rank among the top performers. Two of my roles were commission only, teaching me the importance of mindset and resilience. I’ve developed a rejection proof attitude. Every “no” brings me closer to a “yes.” Whether it’s a recurring charity subscription or a £4,500 Tudor watch, the recipe remains the same: build rapport, stay authentic, and results will follow. Now in my final year at university (on track for a 2:1), I’m channelling everything I’ve learned about communication, empathy, and human behaviour into building a career in tech sales. Over the next few weeks, I’m completing courses like HubSpot’s Inbound Sales Certification to strengthen my foundation in SaaS and B2B selling. If you’re in sales or tech, I’d love to connect, learn, and share insights.
