   Specializing in functional genomics and gene therapy. I am the Scientific leader for Technology Development for the entire functional genomic group in a matrix style organization, and I am responsible for developing, evaluating, and integrating new technology into the group and developing the technical skill set of the entire team in addition to several direct reports. This includes: • Incorporating novel Machine Learning approaches to improve various aspects of our technology platform • Investigating novel CRISPR and next generation sequencing applications • Coordinate functional genomics screens with other focus areas to develop novel therapeutic targets • Coordinate and establish collaborations with academics to evaluate new technology • Development of a screening pipeline for novel CRISPR and other RNA guided nucleic acid binding proteins for different activities (DNA editing, DNA cleavage, DNA binding, RNA cleavage, etc) and outcomes (Genome Wide Screens, Knock-out, Knock-in, precise correction, activation, repression), that has identified dozens of active systems including novel CRISPR subtypes. • Applying single cell screening and spatial transcriptomics workflows • Developing and implementing novel functional genomics screening assays to increase throughput or enable novel phenotypic screening such as transcriptome, localization, and organelle functionality • Improving biomolecule and gene therapy platforms by applying big data and high throughput screening insights combined with CRISPR functional genomics screens • Managing Electronic Lab Notebook (Benchling) across entire team and coordinating across other functional areas of the company
