About David Tybor
I am a Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) scientist with expertise in real-world evidence generation, comparative effectiveness research, and observational epidemiology. My work focuses on translating complex clinical and real-world data into evidence that supports payer decision-making, health technology assessment (HTA), and evidence-based healthcare strategy. I currently work in HEOR at AbbVie, where I support evidence generation for oncology assets through real-world data analyses, indirect treatment comparisons, and observational research programs using large healthcare databases. My work involves designing HEOR protocols, conducting comparative effectiveness analyses, and collaborating with cross-functional teams across epidemiology, medical affairs, and market access to inform evidence strategy across the product lifecycle. Before entering industry, I spent more than fifteen years as a faculty member at Tufts University School of Medicine and the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts, where I taught epidemiology, biostatistics, and research methods to graduate students in public health and medicine. My academic research focused on obesity, cardiometabolic risk factors, and behavioral determinants of health outcomes using large observational datasets. I have authored more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications and was honored with the Tufts University School of Medicine Dean’s Award for Lifetime Excellence in Teaching for my work mentoring graduate researchers. I have also taught at Stonehill College, Simmons University, and The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. Across both academia and industry, my work centers on using rigorous quantitative methods to generate meaningful insights from complex health data and communicating those insights to multidisciplinary teams. Outside of my professional work, I have a long-standing interest in strength training and coaching, reflecting my broader interest in metabolic health, performance, and the science of human physiology. I earned a Starting Strength Coach (SSC) credential in 2020 from Mark Rippetoe. I am also involved in advocacy and support efforts for survivors of childhood trauma and clergy abuse, reflecting my broad commitment to resilience, mentorship, and helping other navigate difficult life experiences.
