Evaluates, develops, and improves department controls, systems, and procedures that increase accuracy and efficiency. Manages team of accountants, including review of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. Hires, trains, and motivates accounting staff members while supervising and delegating department tasks. Oversees the daily activities of accounting team and ensures that all major projects, month-end, and year-end reports are completed accurately and on time. Ensures that all accounting processes align with GAAP and current financial legislation. Analyzes financial data and creates reports for management, stakeholders, and external parties, such as vendors. Maintains accurate and complete financial records and participates in audits or reconciliations, as needed. Assists other departments as they develop strategies, establish objectives, and make decisions that could have a financial impact on the business.
