About Travis W. Trueblood
I advise tribes, tribal enterprises, and mission-driven organizations—and, in select matters, individuals and businesses—on complex legal and strategic issues at the intersection of federal, state, and tribal law. My work focuses on sovereignty, jurisdiction, governance, and federal regulatory frameworks, particularly in matters where legal risk, political considerations, and institutional interests converge. With more than two decades of experience spanning complex litigation, appellate advocacy, and senior advisory roles, I bring a multidimensional perspective to high-stakes matters. Clients engage me to navigate jurisdictional conflict, structure governance solutions, and provide clear, strategic counsel in legally and politically complex environments. My practice is concentrated in Federal Indian Law, Tribal Governance, and Agriculture and Natural Resources, along with select high-impact litigation. I also serve as a national advisor and speaker on issues involving tribal sovereignty and intergovernmental relations. My background includes service as a federal law enforcement leader with the Department of the Interior, focused on Indian Country law enforcement and natural resource protection, and as a senior official leading tribal health initiatives at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. I continue to serve as a military officer, where I apply leadership and operational discipline that informs my legal strategy and client counsel. As a citizen of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, my work is grounded in principles of justice, integrity, and respect for sovereignty. I am committed to delivering principled, culturally informed advocacy that advances durable solutions and strengthens the institutions my clients lead. I hold a J.D. and an M.B.A. from Florida State University and an LL.M. in Real Property Development from the University of Miami School of Law. Based in Washington, DC and Florida, with a national practice.
