As Director of Risk Management for one of Nevada’s largest public school districts, I lead the district-wide risk strategy with a focus on safeguarding over students, staff, and more than 100 facilities. I oversee the full scope of the district’s insurance portfolio, including general liability, property, workers’ compensation, cyber, and specialty coverages, ensuring cost-effective placement, renewal, and alignment with operational and legal exposures.I serve as the district’s lead in resolving risk management claims and disputes, working directly with claimants, legal counsel, and insurance carriers to reach fair and efficient resolutions. This includes complex negotiations involving bodily injury, property loss, and student incidents. My proactive claims management reduces exposure and litigation risk while upholding the district’s guiding principles. In this role, I have developed and implemented scalable, district-wide risk management programs focused on regulatory compliance, student safety, and operational continuity. I partner with other senior leadership, site administrators, and external stakeholders to align risk mitigation strategies with district goals, building a culture of safety and resilience across all schools and departments.My experience also includes budget forecasting, litigation oversight, and vendor management, ensuring that risk-related resources are deployed strategically and efficiently. With deep knowledge of the public sector and education-specific risk, I bring a balanced, solutions-focused approach to managing emerging threats while supporting the mission of public education.
