About Alex Turner

I\'m a Product Manager on the Wearables Developer Platform team at Meta, driving platformization of our developer frameworks across Meta\'s current and future smart glasses!I spent the 10 years before this building mixed reality and metaverse developer platforms for Microsoft. Since the first HoloLens device, I drove Microsoft\'s mixed reality APIs, distilling nascent product concepts down into durable developer concepts like spatial coordinate systems and spatial anchors. I drove Microsoft\'s standards engagements in the OpenXR and WebXR working groups at Khronos and the W3C, convincing the industry that VR and AR could be targeted with a common API surface. I was then Principal PM Architect on the Mesh Developer Platform team at Microsoft, building the first immersive development platform for business.Before this, I drove the C#/VB Compiler team at Microsoft to ship Dynamic, Async and Windows 8 support. As the team shipped the.NET Compiler Platform (\"Roslyn\"), I rationalized its broad dev-driven API set, proposing and shipping C#/VB Analyzers that travel alongside APIs within NuGet packages to give domain-specific warnings as Roslyn\'s first major 3P use case. I graduated with an MS in Computer Science from Stony Brook University and have spoken at GDC, BUILD, PDC, TechEd, TechDays and MIX.My passion is bringing a technical depth you don\'t expect from a product manager to bear on unsolved problems in bleeding-edge developer platforms, bringing disparate technical leaders within an organization together to find solutions they\'d believed were out of reach.Let\'s build the future!
