Manages the day-to-day operations of the IOT managed servers by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance, and repair. Ensures that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are properly maintained. Develops new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts, and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability. Supervises System Administration staff including hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining. Leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or State of Indiana agencies. Installs, modifies, and maintains systems and utility software on server computer systems. Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources. Develops procedures to maintain security and protect systems from unauthorized use. Develops and coordinates project directions and schedules to maximize benefits and minimize impacts on the customer organizations. Provides leadership in planning and implementation of projects for computer operations and enterprise systems administration. Stays current with technological developments in system administration technology and recommends ways for IOT and the State of Indiana to take advantage of new technology. Handle management/supervisory responsibilities of the System Administration and Server Applications Team as well as mentor other team members on projects they manage. Act as the IOT Liaison and Project Manager for projects within System Administration and Server Applications Team as well as mentor other team members on projects they manage. Oversee the design and implementation of the efficient and effective use of resources to support System Administration and Server Applications Team needs. Proactively plan for future server growth. Contribute to the design and implementation of overall disaster recovery strategy.
