ABOUT TARA SHALLAL
Tara Shallal has experience in both the public and private sectors in program and project management, grant making, communications, and partnership building. At Visa, Tara is leading strategy in social impact around financial skill building to communities of need (young people, small business, refugees, women). She also drives strategy in circular economy or recommerce for Europe, helping to accelerate the transition to recommerce through payments. Since joining the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Tara has worked across several teams developing partnerships with corporate philanthropies to grow the organization\'s donor base. Tara also has developed expertise in gender and inclusion as well as climate action, top priorities for the EBRD. She has experience working with the Climate Finance team at the EBRD, supporting financial institutions with green credit lines and their transition to being Paris aligned. She completed a Masters of Science in Development Administration and Planning in 2018 at the Department Planning Unit at Bartlett at University College of London. Her coursework focused on the various actors and institutions that affect development, while planning for socially just and sustainable development in the Global South. As part of the Masters program, Tara has also completed field work in Kampala, Uganda where she worked with local NGOs on an adolescent sexual education program. Tara was previously a Coordinator for the KIND Movement, a collaborative effort between KIND Snacks and the community to make the world a little kinder. She worked as grant officer, and provided communications support while managing various projects and campaigns. Previous to KIND, Tara was working as a Customer Experience Associate at Warby Parker. Her responsibilities included channeling the voice of Warby Parker, managing various customer accounts and maintaining customer relations through phone, email, and live chat by offering exceptional customer service. Tara was previously the Program Coordinator at the Aspen Institute’s Middle East Programs. She supported Partners for a New Beginning’s North Africa Partnership for Economic Opportunity (PNB-NAPEO). Tara worked on various projects and logistics carried out by PNB-NAPEO including the 2012 and 2013 US-Maghreb Entrepreneurship Conference in Morocco and Tunisia, entrepreneurship, agriculture and creative industries projects in the region and has taken part in leading delegations to North Africa on topics of education and private equity.
