ABOUT TRYSTAN PECKOVER

My captivation with international affairs and the intersection of global challenges arose as a high school student volunteering with the Australian Red Cross, and developed as an international relations undergraduate studying the Darfur humanitarian crisis in 2005.Ever since, I have been driven to help solve some of the world’s most pressing geopolitical challenges and build impact in social and economic development, human rights, stability and security, and climate change.I am building a career at the intersection of government, international institutions, and global development - supporting collaboration between national governments and multilateral organisations to address shared geopolitical and geo-economic challenges.MY CAREERI am a bilingual international affairs and development specialist, and leader in Deloitte UK’s International Affairs and Development Practice. As Deloitte Foreign Affairs Lead, I support UK Central Government and clients to respond to complex geopolitical challenges and engage internationally.Prior to Deloitte, I spent 3 years as an Australian diplomat (2019-22) in Zimbabwe, and Australia’s lead diplomatic representative in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Republic of Congo (ROC) – advancing Australia’s political, economic, security, and humanitarian interests, and championing human rights. I also oversaw aid investments in Zambia and Malawi, and consular operations across all five countries.I bring diverse and complementary expertise across foreign policy, international development, trade, human rights, humanitarian programming, and international and commercial law - developed over 15 years across government, development, legal, and consulting sectors in 12 countries. This is complemented by extensive university qualifications in law, international relations, and peace building.I draw on experience as an influential communicator and persuasive negotiator in representational roles – achieving strong results in commercial and political roles, including in UN multilateral forums, and in high stakes commercial disputes with Minter Ellison and Flinders University. As a leader, I strongly believe in the importance of teamwork in achieving quality outcomes, and put this principle in practice leading a diverse cross-cultural consular team during COVID-19 to assist Australians in Africa.OUTSIDE OF WORKYou\'ll find me going for runs and hikes with my intrepid border collie pup, cheering on various sporting teams, keeping up my French at my local language institute, or going for a pint at a local pub.
