I have been a Partner at Bird & Bird for over 20 years and co-head the firm’s International Banking & Finance Group. Although I started my professional career and still undertake work as a banking lawyer, I am probably best known now for my expertise in the fields of payments, electronic banking and financial services. Within Bird & Bird, I am often find myself working with commercial colleagues and bringing the \"Fin\" to their \"Tech\". I am a frequent speaker on these topics and am currently updating the chapters on payment mechanisms and financial services in both editions of the book “Internet Law & Regulation”.I have has advised a significant number of clients in relation to projects involving an interface between finance/payments and telecoms/technology, including advice in relation to mobile payments, remote banking, electronic cash and payment card schemes. My advice has included the navigation of relevant regulatory aspects (including assisting with the obtaining of financial service authorisations where necessary), the drafting of consumer-facing documentation and the negotiation of commercial and joint venture documentation with and for service providers.
