ABOUT TRUST DIYA
A PhD research candidate in the discipline of Biomedical Science working in cell and molecular biology. My research interests are on the effects of flavonoids on mammalian cells. I love to bring together the scientific disciplines related to the behaviour of mammalian cells exposed to flavonoids with a special inkling to address metabolic syndrome disorders. This brings into focus molecular and cellular disease processes extrapolated to epidemiological studies. My current research project is entitled \"Elucidation of the structure-function relationship of dietary plant flavonoids on the generation of fat cells (adipogenesis) and, in particular, the molecular pathways and mechanisms by which flavonoids exert their effects\". I am part of a vibrant and active research team whose short term ambition is to make Staffordshire University the centre of excellence in the aetiological cellular and molecular basis of metabolic syndrome disorders especially type 2 diabetes mellitus and coronary heart disease. Outside the laboratory, I have a keen interest on pedagogical principles with a focus on andragogy. Having taught in secondary schools, colleges and university, I have been drawn to critically observe the correlation between social backgrounds and learning preferences. I am also involved in mentoring, coaching and motivational speaking.
