Experienced legal and business professional with over 20 years of in-house legal and business leadership experience. My executive management experience includes responsibility for Legal, Claims, Risk Management, Human Resources, Marketing Resources, and Employee Benefits. At each Company at which I have worked, I have overseen the management of accidents/claims departments with large self-insured retention amounts, in both self-administered environments and environments in which I oversaw and managed third (3rd) party administrators. I have extensive experience in managing complex, high-stakes litigation all the way from the initial notification all the way to resolution, either by trial or by settlement, either through direct negotiations or through mediations. I have extensive experience as both a solo in-house attorney, handling matters directly, as well as extensive experience in assembling, training, and building high-performing legal teams from the ground up.I strive to be a strategic business partner who is very engaged in the business side, with an emphasis on being a problem solver focused on proactively identifying, balancing, managing, and mitigating legal and business risks to develop solutions that allow for the business to successfully and profitably operate. 1. Senior Vice President and General Counsel

   Covenant Logistics Group

   Feb 2022 — Present · Chattanooga, TN, US

   Member of the senior leadership team, responsible for executing the short- and long-term strategy of Covenant Logistics Group, Inc, a publicly-traded, multi-segment transportation services provider. CVLG\'s suite of services include for-hire truckload motor carriage (both dedicated and irregular route/one-way), brokerage, managed transportation, and warehousing. I am responsible for a team of 18 people, with 3 direct reports, consisting of the in-house Claims Department (commercial auto liability, general liability, cargo, property, physical damage, and workers\' compensation claims), in-house legal team (2 attorneys and two (2) paralegals), and the placement of excess liability insurance coverage, as well as financial and professional liability insurance coverage.Major Accomplishments and Key Results:Oversaw the resolution of 19 serious bodily injury and wrongful death claims that were pending when I joined the Company, for which the Company had no available excess liability insurance coverage. The total potential financial exposure for these claims was in excess of $80 Million; we were able to settle all 19 of these claims for a total of just over $20 Million.Reduced employee turnover in the Claims Department from over 86% when I joined the Company, to now having gone two (2) years without losing a single employee due to voluntary resignations. During this time, we also dramatically improved the efficiency of the Department, handling an average of 41% more claims with a staff that is over 40% smaller than its peak headcount.Reduced the average time to complete the review and redlining of customer and supplier/vendor contracts from an average of over 14 days when I joined the Company, to less than three (3) days, currently.Oversaw the development and implementation of union-free training and labor strategy risk mitigation, with training being administered to frontline supervisors and managers all the way up to executive management.
