ABOUT TROY ESPERA

I’m a communications and media professional with over 15 years of experience in broadcast news and in the nonprofit and public sectors. I have led the production of multiple award-winning digital and TV news programs, documentaries, and podcasts, as well as community events. I\'ve also successfully led media relations initiatives that support health equity for marginalized communities across the San Francisco Bay Area. I\'m an advocate for multicultural/ethnic media that amplify the voices of underrepresented audiences and for equitable language access to community health services. I currently work as a public information manager at Alameda County Health Care Services Agency\'s Office of the Agency Director. In this role, I\'m charged with the development and implementation of communications initiatives that support major safety net programs including the Office of Homeless Care and Coordination, the Center for Healthy Schools and Communities, and Emergency Medical Services. I have a bachelor\'s degree in journalism from San Francisco State University and a master\'s degree in Diverse Community Development Leadership from California State University, Northridge. My graduate research explored language access in community health communications and health service delivery.
