ABOUT TROY ENGEL
I love a challenge and truly enjoy creating innovative solutions to those challenges. To accomplish this, I concentrate on the question at hand, dissect existing data and identify gaps, lead creative brainstorming sessions, test possible solutions, conduct good old-fashioned Army ‘After Action Reviews, quickly adapt plausible solutions, and implement refined processes. Challenge overcome, Next! Over the span of my 17-year marketing and communications career I have worked across a wide range of marketing functions. The Army introduced me to communications strategy, managing marketing, advertising, & creative agencies, using data to make decisions and improve processes, and the importance of knowing my target audience like I know the back of my hand. Polaris taught me digital marketing. I was neck deep in creating social content, writing copy, being a creative director for videos, photo shoots, updating web design, SEO/SEM, paid search, and diving into target audience by developing customer personas. The motorsports giant also helped me get my feet wet with both B2B and B2C marketing. Harley Davidson taught me to be comfortable with ambiguity. I poured over data while locking myself in a room with the most experienced industry gurus to brainstorm solutions that were way outside the box. I became very intimate with the concept of failing fast and applying lessons learned to the next iteration of tests. Today I’m leading a small manufacturing company through a digital transformation with a focus on gathering data and introducing a more rigorous data-based decision-making process. I’m trying to get away from “what we’ve always done” to “the data says….” In my down time I work out, lose boardgames to my wife, enjoy baking, am my kid’s biggest fan at sporting events, plant stuff in my yard, and start lots of home improvement projects.
