For the past four years I have been working on a oral history of the Village Voice, the alt-weekly bible that inspired hundreds of imitators around the country. With more than 200 original interviews, the book tells the story of the paper\'s genesis in the 1950s to its current iteration. The story of the paper is also New York\'s cultural and historical story—tracking the evolution of music and arts and politics in the Big Apple and how the paper covered the changing times. It will be released on PublicAffairs/Hachette in February 27, 2024.
