About Tristan McIntosh

I lead grant-funded research, professional development initiatives, and consulting engagements focused on ethical, social, and professional issues in science and medicine. I earned my PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, specializing in leadership, creative problem-solving, and ethical decision-making. My current work spans three domains: 1) practices that create environments for rigorous research, scientific excellence, and happy people, 2) engaging and mobilizing stakeholders to support responsible innovation, particularly involving the development and commercialization of neurotechnologies, and 3) change management and policy implementation strategies that help state medical boards and hospitals protect the public from physicians who inflict harm. I also design, deliver, and evaluate virtual and in-person programming on the aforementioned topics. I co-direct Compass, a national professional development program for researchers created with NIH funding that cultivates leadership and management skills. Additionally, I serve on the editorial boards of Accountability in Research and Ethics & Behavior.
