ABOUT TRINA PHARAND
As NORCAT\'s Chief Advisory Officer, I work with clients around the world with a focus on talent and human capital operational readiness and optimization, learning strategy and design, and compliance and risk management solutions with a focus in the mining, forestry and construction sectors. Over the past 15 years, my diverse professional background has spanned many sectors, including mining, construction, oil and gas, and technical trades, and I have been accountable for a variety of functions; Occupational Health, Safety and Environment, Human Resources, Training and Development, Labour and Employee Relations, and Quality Assurance. Since joining NORCAT in 2015 as Manager of Health, Safety and Environment, I leveraged a decade of experience in the health and safety and human resources management field to carve out a niche and drive significant growth in talent and human capital consulting both in Canada and globally for NORCAT. From September 2015 through October 2016, NORCAT was engaged for a multifaceted project with the Deputy Ministry for Mineral Resources in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to identify gaps and opportunities to support the creation of a large-scale, formal, productive and safe mining industry and create a culture of health, safety and productivity in the growing region. NORCAT’s role included the development of health and safety technical guidelines, national workforce planning and mine training, and national mining technology and innovation strategies. As NORCAT’s principal consultant, I worked with WGM and project partners to map and forecast talent pool requirements for over economically feasible projects over 23 different value chains, including gold, copper, silica, steel and aluminum, an integral step in guiding the educational system for the mining and metals sector in the region. NORCAT’s recommendations bridged the gap between the requirements of employers and the quality and quantity of human capital. In 2019 we founded NORCAT Advisory. Since then, we have continued to advise C-suite executives and organizations on talent planning and development globally. We cover all stages of a mining project from pre-feasibility to steady state operations and have amassed experience on projects in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas.
