About Trevor Mahoney
I have always been fascinated by the dynamic intersection of business and technology, specifically as advancements in artificial intelligence and machine learning continue to have far reaching implications in the business world. Continually studying this changing space with an emphasis on its impacts in financial markets is my primary interest.I chose to represent this interest in my studies at Santa Clara University by combining a major of Finance with a minor in Management Information Systems. This led to my career at JPMorgan Chase & Co. where I worked as a rotational analyst in Middle Market banking covering verticals including Government Banking, Asset Based Lending Risk, and International Banking. These rotations allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the banking industry while also learning about the gentle balance between risk management and deal negotiation. Along with this, technical skills related to financial modeling, industry research, and client interaction have been developed. This led to my current role as an Asset Based Lending Originations Associate for the West Coast of JPMorgan Chase & Co. In this role I work to review and distill information from the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statements of prospective companies with revenues ranging from $50 million to $1 billion. Following due diligence and financial analysis of these statements, as well as working capital detailed schedules, screening memos are compiled and presented to key internal stakeholders and senior leaders to inform lending decisions. As artificial intelligence and machine learning have continued to develop in business, however, I took it upon myself to enroll in a part-time Data Science training curriculum with Chegg Skills to further understand the impacts of this technology in business. During this program I covered the fundamentals of Python and SQL while working through Capstone projects where I have conducted statistical analysis, data cleaning, and feature engineering to build regression models for predictive purposes.
