I was the Design Lead on the M27 J5 to J7 Concrete Overlay Scheme which included the feasibility study, pavement investigations, preliminary design and design of remedial repairs for concrete slabs on a Smart Motorway. I coordinated the design work across different assets and produced a detailed report with calculations and specifications for Highways England. The main design challenging was to minimize the risk of reflective cracking because the longitudinal slab joints conflicted with wheel paths due to a change in lane layout. I managed the Area 9 Value Management Programme where I coordinated a team of engineers, trained apprentices and liaised directly with the client and other stakeholders. I was responsible for planning and targeting pavement investigations, HAPMS data extraction and analysis as well as checking work-packages before final handover. I supported Value Management and provided SWEEP analysis to support other HE Area works packages too. I worked on a variety of other pavement schemes too, such as planning and coordinated pavement investigations for a road widening and change in road layout for M40 Baynards Green in Area 7 (affecting both HE and local roads). I led the Liverpool One Bus Depot concrete slab investigations and provided an assessment of the hard shoulder for (for hard shoulder running) for the M6 Lune Gorge Structures Improvement Scheme in Area 12.
