About Trevor Owens
I currently work in Deep Learning based Computer Vision, leveraging the data at Matterport to understand interior and exterior spaces.Previous Machine Learning based Computer Vision Projects were in the fields of both supervised and unsupervised learning. At Airspace it was in building a real time object detection, tracking and classification pipeline. I also worked on an unsupervised method for anomaly detection for wire manufacturing.I previously worked at the Autodesk Pier 9 Research Lab where I aided in bringing modern computer vision and machine learning techniques to the research team. We built a steel 3D printer out of a 6-axis robotic arm and welder, using a laser scanner and stereo vision.After my undergraduate study at Berkeley in Math and Physics, I held a position as a lab scientist in a biophysics lab where I collaborated with others to develop an optical trap.My graduate education was in the Artificial Intelligence field in the Computer Science program at UC Berkeley. Through this education I’ve had experience in Computer Vision, Robotics, Machine Learning, and Optimization.For my second Master’s Thesis I led a collaborative effort between researchers at Berkeley and Harvard to develop a novel color constancy algorithm to perform white balancing. The result significantly outperformed other methods counterparts.I have also been a sous chef, manager, waiter, bilingual tutor, and elected to several positions in the Berkeley Student Cooperatives.In a previous life, I worked in Solid State Physics and published a few papers on ferromagnetic
