WORK HISTORY
Strategy Director (Consultant) @AA New Zealand
Auckland, NZ
The AA, one of the most recognised and trusted Kiwi brands, faced challenging headwinds, prompting the new CEO to seek a purposeful, stretching, and culturally embedded new strategy. To achieve this goal, the AA embarked on a four-phase process: Phase 1: Team Building Recognising the need to bring AA brands and divisions closer together and to collaborate more effectively on service delivery, team-building and leadership development exercises were held to forge stronger personal relationships, improved communication and more aligned ways of working. Phase 2: Discovery Conducted extensive research, including interviews with global motoring clubs facing similar challenges, companies representing capability best practices, quantitative research with AA\'s members, staff, and consumers, as well as interviews with the AA leadership team and board. Global research was also conducted to determine the key trends impacting the future of the association, such as mobility and sustainability. Phase 3: Design Using the insights gained from the research, the leadership team were facilitated through in a series of strategy design workshops that began with defining purpose, vision, and guiding principles. Once the DNA of the organisation was crystallised, the strategic problem and key strategic priorities were defined to address it. The leadership team then focused on identifying strategic capabilities and initiatives necessary to deliver the strategy. Phase 4: Delivery Once the new strategy was complete, The AA engaged FFGC to assist with presenting and storytelling of the strategy to the board, which received positive endorsement. FFGC then helped develop divisionally aligned strategies, strategic and divisional performance metrics, and supported the design of the transformation and change program to implement the strategy.
