A patient\'s diagnostic odyssey can be long and frustrating. As a variant curator and medical genomics scientist, I am passionate that all individuals and families receive the highest quality genetic and genomic variant interpretation to inform their evidence-based clinical decision-making. In accordance with ACMG/HGVS guidelines, I provide professional variant interpretation and classification services for genetic counselors and laboratory directors. These services enable genetic counselors and clinicians to communicate the risk of possible genetic or molecular health indications with their clients. In addition to variant interpretation, I am also experienced in the development of disease ontology strategies for harmonization and analysis of somatic cancer clinical registry data, validation of clinical genomic variant calls, evaluation and education of healthcare insurers and payors on emerging genetic and genomic technologies, as well as process implementation and evaluation through web-based operations systems. My graduate research involved Python, R, and bioinformatics analysis of spatial and temporal patterning effects on microbial population in soils using high-throughput NGS. This included the development, implementation of all target metagenome wet lab SOP. My undergraduate research focused on assessing endophyte-derived metabolites for bioactive properties antagonistic to pathogenic bacteria and fungi. Skills - R, Python, Illumina sequencing prep, mass spec, QIIME2, and various wet lab techniques.

   Provides interpretation and classification of genetic variants on a 274-gene preconception carrier screening panel in accordance with ACMG/HGVS professional recommendations. Works with a team of scientists to draft clinical reports for laboratory directors and genetic counselors to communicate possible genetic or molecular health indications with clients. Assists in test development and validation of clinical testing pipelines.
