About Trevor Mahabir

I am studying commercial real estate at UConn and am set to graduate in May of 2025. The pandemic ended my senior year of high school in March of 2020. I began a full time job selling preowned cars that May. I sold five cars my first week on the sales floor, before graduating in June. My affinity for connection and commissions prompted me to drop out of UConn following my fall semester freshmen year, which was entirely virtual. Seeing how a business works, interacting with individuals from all walks of life, and experiencing the trials and tribulations of a young salesmen developed my mature, entrepreneurial perspective. I valued this over a traditional education. Although, as a forward looking individual with ambition and discipline, I felt fraudulent without a plan. So, I decided to complete all my \"GenEd\" graduation requirements through night courses at UConn Waterbury. Next, I left my home, work, friends, and family to attend Uconn Storrs for my junior and senior year where I\'d study Real Estate and Urban Economics. In my first year, I was elected President of the UConn Real Estate Society and awarded two scholarships from the University\'s Center for Real Estate. The following summer I earned experience at a brokerage where I was exposed to the process of multifamily transactions. While working this 9-5, I completed two UCONN summer courses, a CRE analyst course, trained as a boxer every night, sold cars at the dealership on Saturdays, and sparred on Sundays. Now, I am sourcing and screening deals for the Hillside Real Estate Investment Fund, presenting these deals to our Investment Committee, and building out my network by attending every industry event I can. I hope to earn a position in brokerage or development. I want to learn at a growth-oriented firm or with an individual who excels in their field, and has the capacity to mentor me. I am in love with learning, I love listening to smart people, and I understand that excellence does not happen overnight. My motivation is and always will be my family, which keeps my foot on the gas and gets me through the difficulties inherent to success.
