About Deontré L. Clayton

Deontre\' Clayton is a true servant leader who practices relational and authentic leadership and works to provide individuals with equitable opportunities.He currently serves as the Director of FL Prgrams for Ampact (formerly Reading & Math, Inc.) and has served with the organization since June 2018. In this role, he oversees the programmatic implementation and operations for Florida Early Learning Corps, a research-based early learning intervention program that places over 120 trained AmeriCorps tutors in pre-K classrooms throughout the state of Florida, serving children aged 3–5 by providing literacy and numeracy support primarily through small-group instruction, whole-group instruction, songs, and games. Deontre\' has previously served as a middle school ELA teacher with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, served in the Student Life Department at the Seed School of Miami, served as a Community Involvement Specialist with Florida International University\'s Afterschool-All-Stars program, and has held various summer positions with Achieve Miami, Teach for America-Miami, and Breakthrough Collaborative-Miami.He received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from North Carolina A&T State University, an Executive Master of Public Administration from Texas Southern University, a Master of Education in Education Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University, and he\'s currently pursuing his Ed.D in Organizational Innovation and Leadership from National University.Deontre\' is also a proud life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He was initiated through the Beta Beta Lambda Chapter in Miami, Florida. He currently serves as the District Deputy Chief Dean for the Florida Federation of Alpha Chapters, Alpha Advisor for the Delta Psi Chapter located at Florida Memorial University, and the South Area Chief Dean for the Florida Federation of Alpha Chapters. Deontre’ is also a proud sustaining member of the 100 Black Men of South Florida, Inc, a nonprofit organization that falls under the larger 100 Black Men of America, Inc. network. Program Leadership and Management: Provide leadership and direction to the overall program, establishing an annual timeline of key activities essential for effective program implementation and leading the team to meet all the milestones set forth on the timeline. Collaborate with key positions in the national office to establish local procedures that lead to strong site partnerships, a positive member experience with a high enrollment and retention rate, efficient and effective training structure, and strong fidelity of program implementation for strong student outcomes. Ensure region is able to recruit and retain high performing staff and members. Supervise and develop regional program staff.2. Site Partnership Development: Maintain partnerships and relationships with site partners that lead to shared vision of improving outcomes for program participants. Establish relationships with new potential partners, present information about the program to key stakeholders. Ensure aligned site agreements are signed and site partners have the resources and understanding to effectively support AmeriCorps members and implement Ampact programs. Oversee contracting process. Be present in the community and develop community partnerships that support the overarching goals of the initiative.3. New Community Advancement: Work in collaboration with the Chief Advancement Officer to prepare for implementing Ampact Programming in new communities. Present information about the program to key stakeholders, solicit understanding and buy-in to the program models, and lead the efforts to prepare for implementation. Act as a brand ambassador to build name recognition and community connections to Ampact programs and staff.4. Grant Management and Reporting: Meet expectations of all grants and contracts that provide funding for the program. Write and submit progress reports.
