As a Library Assistant in the Adult Services Department, I provide direct support to patrons with a focus on technology assistance, digital literacy, adult programming, and community engagement. I manage operations in the public computer lab, lead technology instruction, maintain the adult collection, and contribute to both internal and external library communications.Key Responsibilities• Manage the public computer lab and assist patrons with using computers, mobile devices, software, printing, and library apps• Lead drop-in technology help sessions to improve digital literacy and access to online resources• Assist patrons in locating materials, using the catalog, and navigating local history and genealogy tools• Plan, coordinate, and present adult programs, including educational and recreational events• Maintain collection organization through shelving, shelf reading, and developing engaging displays• Write articles and program features for the local newspaper to promote library services and community resources• Support circulation, registration, and monetary transactions while ensuring excellent customer service• Participate in library outreach events and volunteer initiatives to strengthen community partnerships• Create flyers, program materials, and internal documents using tools like Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Canva• Collaborate with staff across departments to support day-to-day operations and long-term service goals
