About Travis Upham

Began career with Protiviti in July 2013 after graduating from the University of Oklahoma in May 2013 with a BBA in Accounting & Finance. Currently serving in the Internal Audit and Financial Advisory solution. Starting in 2024, my primary focus is on Sustainability and ESG reporting. Have assisted multiple clients in documenting their GHG accounting and ESG reporting processes, including identification / establishment of internal controls. Additionally, have assisted with the creation and updates of Inventory Management Plans (IMPs) to document GHG inventories and accounting methodologies. Lastly, have assisted clients in performing calculations of their annual Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions. Prior to 2024, the majority of my career was focused on assisting clients with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance (from design of controls to ongoing testing of operating effectiveness) and executing various operational audits across a number of areas (supply chain management, maintenance, accounts payable, vendor/contract compliance, materials management, and more). Industry experience includes oil and gas (upstream and midstream), chemical manufacturing, and consumer products.

   Continued leading project teams in a variety of internal audit projects including SOX compliance, annual risk assessments, and operational audits.Additionally, led or participated in engagements related to Sustainability and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) accounting- Assisted an organization with operations in 5 countries to calculate their Scopes 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions- Developed process flows and risks and control matrices for two clients in the oil and gas industry (primarily focused on Scopes 1 and 2 emissions and overall Sustainability Reporting processes). Risks and controls focused on data collection, validation, calculations, and subsequent reporting to the U.S. EPA and within their annual Sustainability / ESG Reports- Assisted a medical equipment and supplies client in performing a materiality assessment to identify material sustainability topics to the organization.
