About Travis Smith
I graduated from Duke University with a B.S. in Neuroscience and a minor in Theater. As a BioCoRE Scholar, I had the honor of working in one of the most prestigious laboratories in the country, the Laboratory for Psychiatric Neuroengineering, which has allowed me to understand brain circuitry as a means of analyzing human behavior. I fed my numerous passions and diversified my skillset through service and leadership in organizations such as Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc, the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) to name a few. Upon graduating, I joined the Venture For America (VFA) fellowship, where I received training in a variety of job functions from startups and entrepreneurial organizations across the country. I began my career journey in business development for an education finance technology startup. I then transitioned to an education consulting nonprofit that drives equity in education forward through philanthropic support to schools and nonprofits nationwide. In my last role, I stepped into the world of product marketing for an education technology startup whose vision is to increase diversity in the global digital workforce through programming and bootcamps.I\'m currently seeking new opportunities, eager to see where this winding road will take me next. Outside of education, my experiences and interests extend to other fields such as Arts & Entertainment, Film/TV & Media, Health and Wellness, and [Bio]Technology. I\'m optimistic about every opportunity that the future holds, and I\'m excited to further my skills and knowledge as I grow towards attaining all of my aspirations and become closer to reaching my fullest potential.
