ABOUT TRAVIS STANSELL

Travis Stansell began his law enforcement career as an officer with the Morristown Police Department in 2002. After starting in the Patrol Division, serving in the Investigations Division (where he supervised the MPD Forensic Unit and its 17 members along with investigating cases for prosecution), moving to the Support Services Division as a first line supervisor (Corporal) and serving as a School Resource Officer, he was promoted to Sergeant in the Patrol Division as a shift supervisor in 2021. He served as Assistant Commander for the Crisis Negotiation Team and was on the Honor Guard as well as being a certified Crisis Intervention Team member. He previously served as an FTO, on the Special Response Team, Public Information Team, and the Child Abuse & Sexual Exploitation (CHASE) Team. He was named as Director of the Walters State Regional Law Enforcement Training Academy in the fall of 2021 and was promoted to Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice in July 2025.Director Stansell holds an Associate\'s of Applied Science in Law Enforcement from Walters State, a Bachelor\'s Degree in Communications from Carson-Newman University, a Master\'s in Justice Administration from the University of the Cumberlands, is a graduate of the University of Tennessee\'s National Forensic Academy (Session 19), and is a graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command (Class 572).
