ABOUT TRAVIS R HALL
I am currently a Telecommunications Policy Specialist for the National Telecommunications and Information Administration\'s Office of Policy and Development focusing on Surveillance and Consumer Privacy. In this role I am responsible for helping craft U.S. Government privacy policy, as well as other areas of information technology policy such as intermediary liability, intellectual property, emerging technology, and addressing the digital divide. I have a PhD from the Department of Media, Culture and Communication from New York University, with my dissertation research focusing on the cultural contexts and histories of state identification programs, specifically those that use bodies as the media of identity (biometrics, tattoos). I have acted as a consultant for advocacy groups, academic institutes, and private companies on the technological details of identification technologies and the potential impacts of these technologies on privacy rights. I have given invited talks and presented competitive papers internationally.
