As Assistant Dean of External Relations and Strategic Initiatives, I am a key member of the School\'s Leadership Team, responsible for managing and enhancing relationships with external stakeholders, including government agencies, businesses, community organizations, benefactors, alumni, and the media. I collaborate closely with the dean, department chairs, and unit leaders, serving as the chief strategist on various initiatives, including funding priorities, internal and external communications, and efforts to elevate the School\'s public profile.Noteworthy Accomplishments: Led timely rapid communications during recent high profile public health events, including surge of avian flu in Northern Colorado and other timely topics where public health drew public criticisms. Coordinated legislative briefings for Colorado General Assembly related to research and policy outputs from the School. Revamping two strategic initiatives under the auspices of the Dean\'s Office, including the School\'s participation in the Colorado Rural Health Workforce Initiative. Enhanced relationships with local and national media outlets resulting in more earned media coverage for the school, including features on the front page of USA Today; other coverage has inclued stories in the NY Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Denver Post, and elsewhere. Secured one-time financial investments exceeding $2 million, including $1 million to support diversity initiatives. Leading efforts to rebuild and rebrand ColoradoSPH Latino public health programming, including. hiring a new faculty program director to spearhead the work. Actively gathering data on rural public health programming within the school, to provide insights and recommendations to the State of Colorado.
