The Innovation and Improvement (I&I) Branch at the Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education (OCTAE) within the U.S. Department of Education advances policies and programs that enhance career, technical, and adult education. This branch is responsible for identifying, supporting, and scaling innovative practices that improve student outcomes, workforce readiness, and educational equity.Some key responsibilities of the I&I Branch include:Developing and Implementing Innovative Programs: Supporting pilot programs and initiatives that introduce new instructional strategies, workforce development approaches, and educational technologies.Grant Management and Funding Opportunities: Administering competitive grants that encourage research-based improvements in career and technical education (CTE) and adult education.Research and Best Practices: Identifying and disseminating promising practices and evidence-based models to improve program effectiveness.Equity and Access Initiatives: Ensuring that underrepresented populations have access to high-quality education and workforce training opportunities.Collaboration with Stakeholders: Engaging with states, educational institutions, industry partners, and community organizations to align education with labor market needs.Our work ultimately supports OCTAE’s mission to prepare learners of all ages for postsecondary education, career success, and lifelong learning.
