   I am a doodler from way back. When I need to think or process information or remember it, I have a pen or pencil in hand. That said, I never connected with being an artist or even particularly creative. I dabbled in a few things, but because I don\'t draw representationally with perspective and shading and whatnot. I thought I didn\'t have the requisite talent for art. Enter Zentangle in 2013. I actually came to hear of the artform through Joanne Fink\'s book Zenspirations which is a lettering book. And I do love love love words and letters. I taught myself many patterns on index cards using an extra fine Sharpie marker and then I had the good fortune to start taking classes with Certified Zentangle Teachers. In the state of Florida we are blessed to have quite a few teachers and I took introductory classes from several of them. Each class built my skill and built my enthusiasm. Also around this time I joined a class based on the book The Artists Way by Julia Cameron. Next thing I knew I was selling Zentangle Inspired Art at a local shop and putting myself out there. Then I committed to attending Seminar with Rick and Maria. And it has gone. The universe offers a next step. I open my mouth, smile, and say YES I WILL! And somehow it happens in perfectly divine order. Now that I am teaching classes regularly I am grateful for the opportunity to practice and teach this artform. I talk to each student about how they ARE an artist, by definition, as a member of the creative flow that happens when Zentangle is part of the mix. I\'ve seen what happens with troubled teens, autistic children, elderly, people in pain of various sorts, and I\'ve seen how the community of artists can change the world. one person and one stroke at a time!
