Defence Construction Canada (DCC) is a Crown Corporation with a mandate to provide contracting, contract management, environmental and other related infrastructure services to the Department of National Defence.We rely on private sector contractors and consultants to perform the work required. The type of work includes services to support the design, construction, renovation and maintenance of a wide variety of facilities for the infrastructure and environment program of DND.For CFB Borden I ensure compliance with DCC requirements for Health and Safety during all phases of the construction projects. This includes tender document reviews, contractor H&S program/policies/emergency response/fire safety/site specific H&S plan reviews, site visits for quality assurance purposes, and subject matter expert. I liaise with DND, enforcement agencies (Ministry of Labour, Ontario College of Trades), and the general public as required. I also manage the workplace H&S requirements including Advisor and Facilitator of the Workplace H&S Committee, PPE management and inspection, workplace inspections, Accident/Incident investigation, implementation of H&S policies and programs, network with regional and national H&S counterparts, perform hazard assessments, resource for designated substances including asbestos and isocyanates, and facilitate training as required.
