ABOUT TRACEY CURTIS
Tracey Curtis is an American Football Coach and Sports Envoy who currently resides in Milford, CT. She received her B.A. in Journalism from the University of Central Florida. While at UCF, she earned a spot on the football team as a student assistant coach and equipment manager under Head Coach Gene McDowell. To this day, Curtis continues to credit McDowell and UCF for her success as a teacher, mentor, and coach. While coaching one year in the NCAA (2001) at Newport News Apprentice School in Newport News, Virginia, Curtis produced two first team All-Atlantic Central Football Conference defensive backs before returning to CT as a high school football coach (Jonathan Law High School). It wasn\'t until 2003 when Curtis traded in her whistle for a pair of cleats when she became the first female to play a skill position at the semi-pro level in the United Football League. After three seasons with the CT Giants, she retired after sustaining a career ending knee injury. She has since returned to the field as an assistant coach, serving as the defensive backs coach for Southern CT State University, an NCAA Div. II school in New Haven, CT. Curtis also represents USA Football as a certified Master Trainer and teaches many camps, clinics, and events throughout the country. Curtis has displayed her coaching skills at various NFL events: USA Football Protection Tour at MetLife Stadium; USA Football Parents Clinic with the New York Giants and Denver Broncos; NY Giants Health and Fitness Expo; NFL Play 60 Character Camp with the NY Giants and NY Jets sponsored by Anthony Munoz; Philadelphia Eagles Open Practice Kids\' Day;\"Catch of a Lifetime\" event with Odell Beckham Jr, formally of the NY Giants; USA Football\'s First Down Initiative; Sam Garnes Football Academy. In 2017, Curtis reached an international audience when she travelled to Mexico City as a sports envoy for Sports United, The International Exchange Program of the U.S. Department of State\'s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. This football clinic, which was held at the Colegio de Tepeyac, quickly became an opportunity for her to showcase American Football on an International level.Curtis continues to use her coaching profession as a platform to expose international participants to American culture and provide them with an opportunity to establish connections with U.S. sports and professionals.
