Summary: Senior scientific leader and administrator who is pivotal in shaping the future of India\'s space science and exploration efforts, from conceptualization and policy-making to mission implementation, data utilization, and fostering the next generation of space scientists Dr. Tirtha Pratim Das is the Director of the Science Programme, ISRO Headquarters, and is responsible for the programmatic orchestration of all the scientific activities of ISRO/Department of Space, which include the space science missions. Spanning a career of two decades, Dr. Das has a diverse range of professional experiences, which include Launch Vehicle integration & Testing, HF Phased Array Radar, scientific payload development for sounding rockets and planetary exploration platforms, and most importantly, formulation of space-borne experiments for planetary missions. In the domain of planetary missions, he has experience in the fields of scientific formulation, payload development, space qualification, project management, and mission operations of scientific payloads. He has participated in all the space science missions of ISRO since Chandrayaan-1, in various scientific, technical and leadership capacities. His major scientific contributions are in the domain of Lunar and Martian neutral exosphere. He has specialised in the domain of space-borne neutral mass spectrometry. Apart from playing various roles in scientific and technical capacities, he has also played programmatic roles towards the formulation of a set of disruptive technologies for the Indian Space Programme. He also plays significant roles in International Cooperation in space exploration as a domain expert and a member of several committees that interface with the global space agencies. Currently, he is engaged in the formulation of the space science programme of ISRO, scientific community building, and interfacing with academia/institutes of the country. He is also a science communicator and an author of scientific and fictional books.
