About Tory Lauterbach
As Co-Chair of the Energy Regulation & Litigation practice and a leader in the Data Centers practice at Gibson Dunn, I represent clients in complex energy regulatory proceedings and commercial negotiations for power supply and utility infrastructure development to support the world\'s growing need for electricity. I bring to my work a regulatory background, with 15+ years of experience advising clients in cases before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and in guiding clients through the regulated aspects of energy-related transactions. I have significant hands-on experience negotiating with public utilities and utility regulators, litigating regulatory matters at FERC and federal courts, and providing legal advice in heavily-regulated energy market environments, including wholesale electricity, natural gas, and carbon markets. With an eye toward the energy transition, I advise clients on regulatory issues related to interconnecting clean and renewable energy projects to the grid, repowering and repurposing existing generating facilities, facilitating and responding to load growth from data centers, transmission development, renewable and alternative fuels, hydrogen production and transport, electrification, decarbonization, wholesale market transactions and compliance, electricity and natural gas export issues, and securing regulatory authorizations for new projects and large transactions. I also bring political campaign and public policy experience to bear in my practice, providing pragmatic and timely counseling to clients in today\'s dynamic political and regulatory environment. I am licensed to practice law in D.C. and Texas.Cover photo credit: James St. John, CC BY 2.0, via Wikimedia Commons
